A question about : Very stupid question re: Invoices

Hiya all,

Did some work for someone as a one off which they have asked me to invoice them for which I have

They have told me they will be sorting payment this week

My question is ( as I do not use invoices normally ) are invoice payments instant like bank transfers are or do they tend to take a few days to go through once they have been settled

As I say silly question but just curious

Does anybody have any experience of using iZettle to take payments from customers ?

What has your experience been ?

Doing a search on this site there are comments about not being able to take Mastercard payments, but their website says that you can as they are EMV (Europay, Matercard and Visa approved) - may be recent approval ?

How have your customers responded ?

The website says no lengthy contracts - what does this mean, that there is effectively no contract ?

A question about : Mobile Phone for Small Business

Hi everyone

I'm setting up a business where I need a phone for customers to call with queries and to make appointments. As it will literally be for that, I'm thinking of getting a very basic PAYG phone.

I work full time at present, so I need a voicemail facility. The problem is that it looks like you get charged for picking up voicemails on all the PAYG tarriffs (unless anyone can tell me otherwise!) so I don't want to use loads of credit listening to messages.

A question about : Paid Tax on time, but got warning about outstaning bill

I did my Tax Return on the 15th January and paid my the full amount they said I was due by the 31st straight away.

I have always paid the full amount due in January and July. On the 12th of February I got an email saying about a Ј463.00 Overdue Tax Bill, thought it might be fake, but logged into the official website and it was real, paid it in full straight away online.

Can anyone point us in the right direction?

My nephew visited 2 accountants and was quoted Ј1450 + VAT and Ј1999 + VAT to write a business plan. Does this seem reasonable?

He wants to purchase the lease of a small petrol station and shop and needs the plan for the lender. The cost is under Ј70k.

Hi all,

I received a call from this company this week telling me they could reduce my business rates and made an appointment for today (Friday). I then had a call first thing to say the rep couldn't make it and they explained to me how I could get my rates down to zero!

Carter Mills said they would do all the legwork and would be free up to that point. If there was a saving to be made/or an appeal to the valuation office then this would be a one off fee of Ј495 & vat.
