I asked this question a while ago, but haven't yet got round to going through them and can't remember what/if any replies I got.

Any ideas anyone/what have others done?

• reduce, re-use, recycle.
  They don't have to be binned.
  Sell the better ones on e-bay,or give them to a charity jumble sale, that way they get re-used.
• Join freecycle and then people in the local area who still use video tapes can reuse them.

• Freecycle is definatly the best bet. The council won't take them, other than to land fill them. Even a big box of them rarely sells on ebay.

• I went to my council re-use plant recently with some old video tapes and was told I could put them in the mixed plastics recycling skip.
• Freecycle is the best option. You will find someone willing to come and collect them from your home (or other convenient location) at a time that suits you, so you won't have the bother of taking them to the jumble sale or whatever, and if they're in reasonable condition their new owner could get years of use from them.
• I work in the video industry. This company are fantastic at evaluating (recycling and re-using) old tape stock for broascasters and others. If you look here: https://www.cva.co.uk/vhs.htm the second option might be better for you, but I don't know if they'd charge to pick them up...

  I've got lots of video cassettes with all sorts of stuff that I've taped over the years that I've now replaced with dvd. I want to dump the old video cassettes but I'd rather they were recycled than just put out with the bins.
  Any ideas please?

• I have a Betamax video machine and lots of recorded tapes. D you think anyone would take themm all off my hands? Is it Freecyle again?. We have an awful lot of stuff for giving away in this house.
